"The Fourth Annual General Eclectic CD is here!!!"
12/15/2007
Starting in the Fall of 2007, students enrolled in the Citizen School's 8th Grade Acadamy, one of Citizen Schools many Boston-based after-school programs, spent hours working with local venture capitalists and music executives to develop, market, and distribute a CD.
This compilation features an "eclectic" mix of local and national musicians from varying ages, ethnicities, and musical backgrounds. This years collection builds on the successes of last years effort and continues what is sure to become one of Boston's great musical traditions.
From Hip-Hop and RnB, to alternative, folk, and funk, General Eclectic Vol. IV ~ The Recipe, is an album that has something for everyone.
All proceeds from the sale of this CD go to the 8th Grade Acadamy and Alumni Services Scholarship Fund.

So a lot has happened in the past 365 days. Last year at this time I was talking to Ben over the phone in the parking lot of my local liquor store in Orlando Florida, possibly considering moving back home. Shortly after but not before a much needed trip to Cabo San Lucas, I packed up my apartment in sunny Orlando Florida to return to the city where I grew up; the home of the World Series Champions. Soon after moving home and very quickly unpacking I met with Ben, was introduced to Chris Cave; the Sidehatch way and together we came to the conclusion that we should merge our entities.
My first Sidehatch event was Spiritual Rez last February at the Paradise; I can still remember every small detail about that evening. From that cold night last February I would’ve never been able to tell you how 2007 was going to fold out. The people, places and things which can occur in one year are truly mind boggling. Over the past year I have been to over 40 states thanks to music, unreal I tell you. My So-Called Friend went from a four piece pop band to a three piece bone crushing rock band which now is known as Shanghai Thrills ( who are currently in the studio with Scott Riebling) . The Thickness just released their second EP this year to a sold out crowd at O’Brien’s. Thick as Thieves went from being a relative unknown in the Boston scene to having a feature story in this months Performer Magazine. KIDNAPKIN won a Boston Music Award for Best New Act and currently in LA working on their second disc with Mike Cosgrove of Alien Ant Farm. We have started a traveling all ages concert series dubbed “The Underground,“ we have set in place teaching work shops “Soul Cinematic,” while we have continued the SIDEcast and had some stellar guests join us such as Damone, Bang Camaro, Enter Shakiri and NOFX. All of news is just the tip of the Sidehatch iceberg.
We have had new signee’s to the Sidehatch family as well. We welcomed Long Beach residents Zen Robbi to the family in September, Ryan Joy joined us officially last February and we still have a few more artists up our sleeves which are sure to leave everyone saying “oh yeah.”
2007 has been the best blur of a year any man could ask for; sheer madness in the best way possible. It was a superb year for me personally and for Sidehatch Entertainment. Everyone that embodies Sidehatch is truly a delight; I honestly feel as if we have the best staff in the planet. We wouldn’t be to the place we are today without the major contributions from Keenan, Cave, Jay, Crickie, Jessie, Tyler, Diane and Gonyea. This crew has done whatever we ask of them for the past 365; they have given up sleep, days off from work and countless other opportunities to lend us a helping hand. A major thanks goes out to our artists for doing what they do and believing in us day in and day out. From traveling to Los Angeles with KIDNAPKIN to record with Mike Cosgrove (part I), to the Get Out! Tour which brought Shanghai Thrills around the country for two months with Ryan Joy and Lights Resolve to last weekend at the Boston Music Awards with three of our acts being nominated including Shanghai Thrills, KIDNAPKIN and Spiritual Rez, 2007 has been extremely special.
As this year comes to a close and 2008 is about to be brought in with a bang, we here at Sidehatch Entertainment would personally like to thank all of you for making 2007 such a success. Thanks for coming out to our shows, buying our cds, believing in Ben and myself and helping our bands win countless other awards and accolades. At the end of each year I always feel as if I say the next year will be the year to leave people saying jeepers, how did they do that! 2007’s momentum will make 2008 that year that I am always hyping; with major new bands about to be announced, giant national tours and other tricks up our sleeves 2008 will be the year of Sidehatch Entertainment.
